This book provides a comprehensive introduction to some key subjects in logic, category theory, algebra and topology. Its five chapters contain the written records of the five courses of the 2022 TACL Summer School (Mira, Portugal, June 14-18, 2022), addressed to graduate students and more experienced mathematicians working in algebra, topology, categories and logic. This volume can help researchers to quickly get into the subject by offering «self-contained» introductions to the subjects.

Maria Manuel Clementino is Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics and a member of the Research Centre for Mathematics of the University of Coimbra. Her main research contributions focus on the application of categorical methods in topology and algebra. She serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals and chairs the Steering Committee on Category Theory.
Mai Gehrke is Senior Research Director in Computer Science at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) working at the Department of Mathematics of Université Côte d'Azur in Nice, France. Her main contributions are in Stone duality, canonical extensions, and applications in logic and theoretical computer science. She is one of the founders of the TACL series.
Jorge Picado is Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics and a member of the Research Centre for Mathematics of the University of Coimbra. System requirements
File format: PDF
Copy protection: Watermark-DRM (Digital Rights Management)
System requirements:
- Computer (Windows; MacOS X; Linux): Use the free software Adobe Reader, Adobe Digital Editions, or any other PDF viewer of your choice (see eBook Help).
- Tablet/Smartphone (Android; iOS): Install the free app Adobe Digital Editions or another reading app for eBooks, e.g., PocketBook (see eBook Help).
- E-reader: Bookeen, Kobo, Pocketbook, Sony, Tolino and many more (only limited: Kindle).
The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Watermark-DRM, a „soft” copy protection. This means that there are no technical restrictions to prevent illegal distribution. However, there is a personalised watermark embedded in the eBook that can be used to identify the purchaser of the eBook in the event of misuse and to provide evidence for legal purposes.
