What makes a neighborhood livable, and what do urban inhabitants need to learn in order to be able to use the city according to their needs, wishes, and aspirations? The empirical study presented in the book, embedded in urban sociology and educational science, is set in Vienna, a city that has long been considered the most livable city in the world by city rankings, and adopts the analytical perspective of the Capability Approach. Between October 2020 and February 2022, guided interviews were conducted with 16 families of mobile European families with children, the neighborhoods of residence were explored by means of go-alongs and the places of origin by means of virtual journeys. Numerous maps, photos, and excerpts from conversations enrich the text.

The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Watermark-DRM, a „soft” copy protection. This means that there are no technical restrictions to prevent illegal distribution. However, there is a personalised watermark embedded in the eBook that can be used to identify the purchaser of the eBook in the event of misuse and to provide evidence for legal purposes.
