John Carver is internationally known as the creator of thebreakthrough in board leadership called the Policy Governance modeland is the best-selling author of Boards ThatMake aDifference (1990, 1997, 2006). He is co-editor (with his wife,Miriam Carver) of the bimonthly periodical Board Leadership,author of over 180 articles published in nine countries, and authoror co-author of six books. For over thirty years, he has workedinternationally with governing boards, his principal practice beingin the United States and Canada. Dr. Carver is an editorial reviewboard member of Corporate Governance: An InternationalReview, adjunct professor in the University of GeorgiaInstitute for Nonprofit Organizations, and formerly adjunctprofessor in York University's Schulich School of Business.
Miriam Carver is a Policy Governance author andconsultant. She has authored or co-authored over forty articles onthe Policy Governance model and co-authored three books, includingReinventing Your Board and The Board Member'sPlaybook. She has worked with the boards of nonprofit,corporate, governmental, and cooperative organizations on fourcontinents. Ms. Carver is the co-editor of the bimonthly periodicalBoard Leadership and, with John Carver, trains consultantsin the theory and implementation of Policy Governance in the PolicyGovernance Academy.
