'I keep telling you, it's different this time. Bad luck, but not this time. We'll be unshackled. Start again.'
Where do you turn when you've got £100,000 of credit card debt and a £400,000 mortgage? For Colin, the answer is simple: fake your death in a canoeing accident in the North Sea. But as his 'widow' Deborah enacts a complex plan to secure his life-insurance payout, the lies begin to take their toll...
Inspired by real events, All At Sea is a witty and thrilling play about trying to keep the romance alive when everybody thinks you're dead. Alison Carr's play premiered at Live Theatre, Newcastle upon Tyne, and the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, in 2026, directed by Maria Crocker.
This volume also includes a short one-person play, The Soaking of Vera Shrimp, which premiered at Live Theatre in 2014 and was subsequently performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
