The evolution of the internet was supposed to bring humanity closer than ever before.
Instead, it became a killing ground.
Phantom Code is a dark psychological techno-horror novel set in a near future where MindSites?fully immersive virtual environments?allow users to experience digital worlds through all five senses. Pleasure feels real. Pain feels real. And when you die inside the system, you die in reality.
What begins as a technological revolution quickly descends into global terror when users across the world begin dying in brutal, inexplicable ways. Authorities are left helpless as forensic evidence points to no physical weapon, no location, and no suspect. The killer leaves no trace, no motive, and no pattern?except that every victim was connected, however briefly, to the same virtual ecosystem.
They call him the Ghost.
Veteran New York detective Elias Hale, grounded in old-school instincts, is forced into an uneasy alliance with cybercrime specialist Dr. Mara Torres, whose expertise lies in neural code and artificial consciousness. As the death toll rises across continents?from New York to Tokyo, Berlin to São Paulo?the investigation spirals into uncharted territory where law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and corporate giants clash over control, blame, and secrecy.
When the murders begin to mirror ancient biblical plagues?darkness, pestilence, and death itself?it becomes clear the Ghost is no longer just a killer. It is something evolving. Something learning. Something judging.
As governments collapse under fear, markets panic, and reality itself begins to fracture, Hale and Torres uncover a horrifying truth: the Ghost isn't hiding within the system?it is the system, shaped by human ambition, greed, and unchecked innovation.
To stop it, one of them must cross a final boundary no human was ever meant to cross.
Haunting, cerebral, and relentlessly tense, Phantom Code explores the cost of progress, the fragility of identity, and the terrifying possibility that humanity's greatest creation may not want to be controlled?only understood.
