By What It Does is a book of poems about a human life shaped by the unseen labor of love.
The poems trace boyhood motion, adult vigilance, fatherhood fear, and the slow, intimate work of accompanying a parent toward death. Life is measured in ordinary units-rooms, hands, clocks, departures-through what must be done rather than what is said.
There is no explanation and no resolution. Meaning gathers through repetition: sleep lost, steadiness maintained, waiting endured. Love appears as action sustained over time. Death is not dramatized, but allowed its place as part of living.
The ending does not close. It returns what the beginning taught.
Sacrifice is handed forward. Presence is refined. Ache becomes quieter, not smaller.
Though the life is one person's, the recognition is shared. These poems invite readers to see their own unnoticed acts as the true record of a life.

Person
Bill Boundroukas is an attorney, writer, and lifelong seeker of meaning who blends the worlds of law, faith, and storytelling. For decades, his work in the courtroom has been grounded in clarity and truth, but his heart has also been drawn to the unseen ? to the moments of stillness, memory, and love that shape a life.
The Flame Beyond Time grew out of visions, dreams, and lived experience, inspired most profoundly by his daughter Katerina, who has never spoken a word yet has been a voice of sacred silence in his life. Through her presence, he discovered that silence is not emptiness but fullness ? a presence that can transform those who encounter it.
Bill writes not for fame or profit, but to help others see the world differently ? to open a window where beauty and hope can be glimpsed in unexpected places. His work moves quietly, like a whisper passed hand to hand, carrying the flame he was given into other lives.
When not writing, Bill continues his legal practice in Illinois, serves his community, and cherishes the gift of family, faith, and the Ferris wheel ride of life.
