As an internationally gifted speaker and author, David defines and demonstrates the Gift of Serving as it plays out in real life Christianity. For the body of Christ to function successfully each member must recognize his divine purpose and function for the health and growth of the body and carry out his intended objectives and responsibilities in the power and gifting of the Spirit. Beginning with Scripture, David uses Biblical characters, great historical saints of faith, and contemporary real-life people to detail how the believer with the Gift of Serving can be characterized, motivated, and used by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ today.

Person
David and Vicki were married in 1977 and have ten children and nineteen grandchildren. They were appointed as church planting missionaries to the country of Brazil in 1979 and served there faithfully until 2006 when they returned to the USA to serve the Lord worldwide in a servant-leadership role with Silent Word Ministries International.
While living in Brazil, David was involved in several church plants, wrote and edited Gospel tracts for the Regular Baptist Press of Brazil, served on the board of the Missionary Language School, served as Field Council chairman for the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism in Sao Paulo, and taught in two theological institutions.
David is now International Director of an Independent Baptist Mission called Silent Word Ministries International (SWMI). SWMI serves as a mission agency, cooperating with local churches to facilitate and administrate the ministries of their missionaries who work with the Deaf internationally. SWMI also specializes in training laborers on foreign fields to reach and teach the Deaf in their regions.
David travels internationally with SWMI, training men to start Deaf churches and Deaf ministries. He has served the Deaf world in various ministries on five continents. David also leads mission teams to do mass evangelism at such places as the Deaflympics and the International DeafNation World Expos. Many Deaf have been saved and several men trained for Deaf ministries who are now serving the Lord full-time with the Deaf.
Besides his ministries in the Deaf world, David also teaches modules in Bible Colleges and Seminaries, counsels missionaries and national leaders, preaches in a variety of conferences worldwide, and challenges Christians with the need to reach the lost and plant churches.
David is the founder and director of an ongoing series of Deliberate Discipleship Retreats (DDRs) that focus on the practical Christian life, intimacy with Christ, Spiritual Gifts, and long-term advanced discipleship. Besides his local church discipleship, these DDRs have been used of God to edify the spiritual life of men and women in ministry on five different continents.
David first heard the subject of Spiritual Gifts being taught in Brazil, South America in 1986 by Larry Coy. In 1987, David learned more about Spiritual Gifts while back in the USA. Immediately, David began teaching others what he was learning about the subject, and his understanding of it has grown continually. It became a vital part of his family life as well as his church life. It made a difference in how he began training deacons and leaders, making him more productive and successful in ministry. David enjoys speaking on the subject of Spiritual Gifts in local churches, at retreats, and in conferences.
