Input-Based Incremental Vocabulary Instruction, Second Edition builds on groundbreaking research that challenges common myths about vocabulary learning?and offers practical, classroom-ready solutions.
The input-based incremental (IBI) approach introduces target words early and supports learners as they gradually build stronger knowledge and use of those words over time. With clear explanations and ready-to-use lessons, this second edition expands the IBI framework to include two new principles of effective vocabulary instruction (for a total of 12).
Two new chapters feature a wide range of sample lessons, from reading-focused activities to cross-proficiency applications, and fresh insights into how technology can enhance IBI practices. This essential resource serves instructors, researchers, curriculum designers, program directors, and materials developers who want to integrate the latest research on vocabulary into effective, evidence-based classroom practice.
