The Unexpected Game
Description

The Unexpected Game challenges the managerial illusion that uncertainty can be fully controlled. Instead, it demonstrates how organizations actively shape their relationship with the unexpected. By introducing the concepts of serendipity (turning surprises into opportunities), zemblanity (drifting into predictable failure), and bahramdipity (suppressing novel ideas under hierarchy), the book offers a fresh lens on how managerial action influences outcomes under uncertainty-at both individual and organizational levels. Blending theory, empirical cases, and practical diagnostic tools, it provides a framework for engaging with uncertainty more deliberately. Written for scholars, managers, and entrepreneurs, the book encourages a shift from attempting to eliminate uncertainty to learning how to navigate it wisely.

The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Watermark-DRM, a „soft” copy protection. This means that there are no technical restrictions to prevent illegal distribution. However, there is a personalised watermark embedded in the eBook that can be used to identify the purchaser of the eBook in the event of misuse and to provide evidence for legal purposes.
