Set in the period 1952 to 1983, the author has attempted to produce a volume that covers three areas of interest:
(a) a romance between two intelligent and interesting young people
(b) a description of an unusual way of life in a religious sect and
(c) the tests and trials in establishing a new way of life and career when all the past is cut away and the beliefs and strictures from it all need to be reassessed; a new and honest view of life and the world around developed which maintains the protagonists' personal integrity; finding and growing in a beneficial career, Myles in the Air Force, Josephine in a publishing company.
