Elizabeth von Arnim (1866-1941) was a prolific Australian-born British novelist known for her witty, semi-autobiographical, and often satirical stories focusing on independent women, gardens, and, famously, The Enchanted April (1922). Born Mary Annette Beauchamp, she achieved immediate success with her debut, Elizabeth and Her German Garden (1898).
