Sofia Crespo x Anna Ridler: A Field of Collaboration collects, for the first time, their five joint projects produced between 2023-2025, which won them the 2025 Arab Bank Switzerland Artist of the Year Award. An interview with the artists and four critical essays provide insight on a hybrid practice where technology functions as an evolving ecology. The authors explore how the artists bridge cutting-edge machine learning with an array of photographic practices, integrate botanical study with tactile traditions, in order to show that Crespo and Ridler move beyond the digital sublime to offer a profound attentiveness to the contemporary moment.
Anna Ridler
is a London-based artist and writer building machine learning systems from hand-labelled datasets since 2017. Her practice uses classification, speculation and ecological time as material. Her work is held by the Whitney, V&A, M+ and ZKM.
Sofia Crespo
is an award-winning Argentine artist whose work explores technology, biology and image-making across digital and analogue mediums. As part of Entangled Others, this extends to how living systems and artificial life interacts and evolves.

System requirements:
- Computer (Windows; MacOS X; Linux): Use the free software Adobe Reader, Adobe Digital Editions, or any other PDF viewer of your choice (see eBook Help).

The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Watermark-DRM, a „soft” copy protection. This means that there are no technical restrictions to prevent illegal distribution. However, there is a personalised watermark embedded in the eBook that can be used to identify the purchaser of the eBook in the event of misuse and to provide evidence for legal purposes.
