Description
Alles über E-Books | Antworten auf Fragen rund um E-Books, Kopierschutz und Dateiformate finden Sie in unserem Info- & Hilfebereich.
This book focuses on original theories and approaches in the field of mechanics. It is based on several lectures of the 50th Anniversary of the International Summer School-Conference "Advanced Problems in Mechanics" (June 2022, St. Petersburg, Russia), and with an emphasis on problems and solutions at the boundaries between mechanics and other areas of research. The respective chapters highlight cutting-edge work that promotes development in fields like micro- and nanomechanics, materials science, solid state physics, molecular physics, astrophysics, and many others.

Persons
Dr. Vitaly A. Kuzkin received his Ph.D. in 2011 and Doctor of Science degree in 2020 from the Institute for Problems in Mechanical Engineering RAS. Dr. Kuzkin holds a position of leading researcher at IPME RAS and professor at Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University. His research interests include thermomechanics, ballistic heat transport, thermoelasticity, transient thermal processes, equations of state, thermal expansion, and molecular dynamics. The main goal of his research is to bridge the gap between discrete and continuum descriptions of thermomechanical processes in solids. V.A. Kuzkin was awarded the St. Petersburg Government Prize in the field of integration of education, science, and industry (2022), the Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for young scientists (2020), and J.I. Alferov scholarship for young scientists (2020).
Prof. Dr. Holm Altenbach is a member of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics and the International Research Center on Mathematics and Mechanics of Complex Systems (M&MoCS), Italy. He has held positions at the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg and Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, both in Germany. He graduated from Leningrad Polytechnic Institute in 1980 (diploma in Dynamics and Strength of Machines) and was awarded his Ph.D. degree in 1983 and his Doctor of Technical Sciences degree in 1987 at the same Institute. He is currently a full professor of Engineering Mechanics at the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Mechanics (since 2011), where he has been an acting director since 2015. Since October 1, 2022, he is retired.

System requirements
File format: PDF
Copy protection: Watermark-DRM (Digital Rights Management)
System requirements:
- Computer (Windows; MacOS X; Linux): Use the free software Adobe Reader, Adobe Digital Editions, or any other PDF viewer of your choice (see eBook Help).
- Tablet/Smartphone (Android; iOS): Install the free app Adobe Digital Editions or another reading app for eBooks, e.g., PocketBook (see eBook Help).
- E-reader: Bookeen, Kobo, Pocketbook, Sony, Tolino and many more (only limited: Kindle).
The file format PDF always displays a book page identically on any hardware. This makes PDF suitable for complex layouts such as those used in textbooks and reference books (images, tables, columns, footnotes). Unfortunately, on the small screens of e-readers or smartphones, PDFs are rather annoying, requiring too much scrolling.
This eBook uses Watermark-DRM, a „soft” copy protection. This means that there are no technical restrictions to prevent illegal distribution. However, there is a personalised watermark embedded in the eBook that can be used to identify the purchaser of the eBook in the event of misuse and to provide evidence for legal purposes.
