Composite Interfaces in Mechanical Design
Description
Alles über E-Books | Antworten auf Fragen rund um E-Books, Kopierschutz und Dateiformate finden Sie in unserem Info- & Hilfebereich.
Composite Interfaces in Mechanical Design provides fundamental details on the science and engineering of interfaces in fibre reinforced polymer composites. The book takes a broad approach to understanding the role of the interface on the mechanical performance of composite materials by considering core interface disciplines such as adhesion, morphology and chemistry, alongside methods for mechanical characterisation through standardised testing and imaging.
Divided into nine chapters, the first introduces key concepts related to fibre-matrix interfaces, delamination, and strain energy release. The second discusses the chemical characterisation of fibre interfaces, while the third chapter considers the different mechanisms of adhesion. The strength of adhesion at interfaces affects the formation of interphases, which is explored in the fourth chapter. Chapter five describes surface treatments to fibre interfaces and their effects on mechanical performance. Chapter six continues the discussion on mechanical performance, in relation to fibre morphology. Chapter seven covers macro- and micro-scale test methods to mechanical characterise the interface, while the eighth chapter details the measurement and interpretation of viscoelasticity. The final chapter discusses failure and fracture in composites, highlighting the role of the interface under different modes of loading.
This book is suitable for undergraduate students in tertiary education and research scientists in academia and industry.

System requirements
File format: ePUB
Copy protection: without DRM (Digital Rights Management)
System requirements:
- Computer (Windows; MacOS X; Linux): Use a reader that can handle the file format ePUB, such as Adobe Digital Editions or FBReader – both free (see eBook Help).
- Tablet/Smartphone (Android; iOS): Install the free app Adobe Digital Editions or the app PocketBook (see eBook Help).
- E-reader: Bookeen, Kobo, Pocketbook, Sony, Tolino and many more (not Kindle).
The file format ePUB works well for novels and non-fiction books – i.e., 'flowing' text without complex layout. On an e-reader or smartphone, line and page breaks automatically adjust to fit the small displays.
