The Editors of this e-book started with the prior assumption that sport should be taken seriously and asked for contributions that would either support us or damn them. It may be accident rather than design and the result of methodological impurities in sample selection but they think we have garnered some pretty compelling evidence that sport should be taken seriously, that in a whole series of different ways, sport does matter. Together the articles in this e-book produce evidence of not only why sport should be taken seriously but also how sport is taken seriously by those who spend all or part of their professional lives investigating it. Sport should be taken seriously and this e-book provides 11 reasons why.
