"Don't fall for a straight boy." It couldn't have been a simpler mantra. But in the sun-kissed, otherworldly town of Santa Cruz, California, two lives intersect in unexpected ways. Thanks to their introduction by Maura Byrne, an effervescent and sensuous physics major who wants them both, Ferran Bosch, a charming and talented soccer player, finds himself inexplicably drawn to Matteo Poulsen, a confident and enigmatic sophomore who is hiding something from both Maura and Ferran: his bisexuality. Their worlds collide in this intelligent, literary exploration of bodies, minds, and spirits. Ferran and Matt are at the center of a whirlwind of emotions, self-discovery, wizardry, and passion. Will Ferran confront the uncharted territories of his heart? Will Matt resist the temptation that could end a friendship? As they delve deeper into the mysteries of their connection, the young men are challenged to confront the shadows of their past traumas, the uncertain future of a world threatened by climate change, and the role they and their friends might play in creating "good trouble".
Luke Adams calls himself a soft-hearted, bisexual curmudgeon who believes that a better world is possible. He is also a coffee and tea snob, as well as a hereditary psychic medium. From his dual childhood loves: the arts and social justice advocacy; to his second career career in social and mental health and education; Luke has utilized and combined many disciplines to make ripples in the ponds of life-especially to empower marginalized young people. He has had a long and diverse career helping to liberate queer spirit and to transform everyday lives. Fiction writing is his latest method of opening those doors.
