Description
He has a thirst for death and power. Mako takes what he wants and crushes opposition.
She has a gift. A young healer who converses with the Ancestors. But even with the voices in her head, Marama cannot quiet the panic in her heart as the impending threat to her home looms.
The Ancestors offer deliverance, prophesying a land of abundance and sending Starman the navigator. But the decision is not easy. Marama's people must choose whether to trust the dead and leave Green Island or risk the erasure of their existence.
Journey back on the tides of this 16th-century wayfaring odyssey when the art of celestial navigation meant more than oceanic voyages, but a future weaved by the Gods.

R. de Wolf was born on the East Coast of New Zealand and is of Maori descent. After leaving New Zealand to travel the world, she lived overseas for 29 years, returning to New Zealand in 2014. Currently, she resides in Ruatorea. The call to write came home with her. In 2020 R. de Wolf published her debut fiction novel, Guardians of the Ancestors - Book One of the Spirit Voyager Series, and short story Crushed Violet, in Kaituhi Rawhiti - A Celebration of East Coast Writers. In 2021 The Future Weavers - Book Two launched in November, and Poetry in a Pear Tree, was published in December. A self-confessed nerd and Sci-Fi fan, The Goodness Algorithm was R. de Wolf's first dystopian novel in 2022 and Poetry In a Pohutukawa followed in December, along with the launch of Kaituhi R¿whiti Two - Weaving of Words which she co-edited and features two of her stories - Whale Brothers (a teaser for the upcoming novel) and The Hollow Mother. Brothers in Whalesong Book Three of the Spirit Voyager Series launched in February 2023. De Wolf writes about the issues she is passionate about - equality, women's rights, the balance of nature, and the spiritual connection to our ancestors and place, with all of her books set in Oceania. She is a member of the NZSA and a Committee member for the Central District Branch, the Tairawhiti Writer's Hub, and the Tai Tech Writers Group. One of her greatest achievements for 2022 was encouraging writers from Tairawhiti to share their work, learn, and be confident in developing their own voice. De Wolf assisted with the launch of Te Kaituhi M¿ori, an organisation supporting M¿ori writers in May 2023. Book four is in progress and the third Poetry Book.
