Structural Mechanics

Professor Cimian Zhu graduated in 1970 from the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Mechanics of Tsinghua University in the major of solid mechanics and in 1992 from the Department of Structural Engineering of Tongji University with a Ph.D.'s diploma in the major of structural engineering. Professor Zhu believes that development of modern structural mechanics should consist of conceptualization of structural analysis (conceptual structural analysis) and computerization of solution process (computational structural mechanics), and he is Advocate and Expert of such development.
Professor Zhu has been devoted himself to both theoretical research and teaching and engineering design and consulting. Before he entered the Faculty of Tongji University in 1978, he worked as Structural Engineer in the design institute of the Ministry of Mechanical Industry, and he has been active in academic research, engineering consulting and supervising, and teaching, particularly on courses.

Weiping Zhang, Ph.D., is Professor of the college of Civil Engineering and Director of Education Quality Assurance Office, Tongji University. He is also Vice Director of the General Higher Education Working Committee of China Construction Education Association, Vice Director of the Structural Engineering Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Mechanics, Vice Director of the Digital Protection Expert Committee for Architectural Heritage of the China Ethnic Architecture Research Association, Vice Director of the Urban Renewal Professional Committee of the Shanghai Society of Civil Engineering, and the National First-class Registered Structural Engineer in China.
His research interests include structural inspection, analysis, assessment, rehabilitation and strengthening of existing construction, performance evolution and time-dependent reliability analysis of concrete structures. He has presided over 5 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He won 3 first prizes and 2 second prizes of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award,1 first prize of Huaxia Construction Award, 2 second prizes of the Science and Technology Progress Award of Ministry of Education, and 2 first prizes and 1 second prize of China National Teaching Achievements.

Xiaobin Song, Ph.D., is Professor, Vice Dean of the College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University, Executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Performance Evolution and Control of Engineering Structures of the Ministry of Education, Member of the Technical Committee of Fire Protection Standardization of Construction Projects of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Member of the Professional Committee of Timber and Bamboo Structures of the Society of Civil Engineering of Shanghai. Prof. Song has presided over 4 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and won 2 first prizes and 1 second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award and 1 first prize of Huaxia Construction Award.

Professor Guoyan Wang graduated in 1982 from the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of Hefei Polytechnic University in the major of Engineering Mechanics and in 1999 from the Department of Engineering Mechanics and Technology of Tongji University with a Ph.D.'s diploma in the major of Solid Mechanics.
He worked as Assistant Engineer in Modular Machine Tool Research Institute of the Ministry of Machine Building Industry (Dalian, China) from September 1982 to September 1985 and then worked as Engineer and Senior Engineer in Bengbu Design & Research Institute for Glass Industry of the State Administration of Building Materials Industry from September 1985 to September 2000. He entered the Faculty of Tongji University in September 2000.
Professor Wang worked at teaching and researching in the fields of structural dynamics and structural wind engineering for a long time, publishing more than 30 academic papers.
