Description
Meet Archie - a 10-year-old boy from a very ordinary family, who lives on an ordinary street and who goes to a very ordinary primary school, but he has an EXTRAORDINARY grandad!
Archie's mum and dad are busy working parents who try hard to juggle their working lives and the commitments of family life so Archie and his sister, Sophia, get to spend a lot of time with their grandparents.
Time spent with Grandad is always full of stories, adventures and fun! Archie's a different person when he's with his grandad. If only there were more school holidays each year!

Margaret Young was born in Southampton where she lived until going to University in Eastbourne in 1979. She moved to the Isle of Wight in 1984 to take up a teaching position at Upper Chine School, Shanklin and continued teaching on the Island until retiring in November 2020. Since 2003, Margaret and her husband David have had a holiday home in the medieval town of Josselin, Brittany. Her experience teaching and living in France were the inspiration for Groovy Grandad.
Based on the Isle of Wight, Maria has been painting the island and its people for the last 25 years. She works primarily on location for composition as it makes the pictures more dynamic and also means you have a better sense of place. Maria adds a bit of fun and humour, bringing in seaside holiday fun, and her work is predominantly created with a fine liner or dip pen and coloured using artists watercolours and a sable brush.
