Description
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles
available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. This is a
comprehensive overview of features of the Fortran 95 language, the
version supported by almost all existing Fortran compilers. Old features
that have been superseded by new ones are not described - few of those
historic features are used in modern programs. The current standard is
known as Fortran 2003 but still, as of 2010, of all the compilers on the
market, only those supplied by Cray and IBM support the entire set of
its non-optional features. The additional features of Fortran 2003 are
described by Reid; the coarray features of Fortran 2008 and its other
features are described also by Reid. Note. Fortran is case-insensitive.
The convention of writing Fortran keywords in upper case and all other
names in lower case is adopted in this article
