Description
Self-concept and achievement motivation has the significant role in individual's life. The academic, social, psychological and emotional variables associated with learners with special needs do show a variation when compared viz-a-viz individuals without special needs. It would be interesting to decipher some specific aspects of behaviour of individuals with special needs that motivates them to excel over others in performance. The present study was an attempt to find out what hearing impaired students view them and what motivates them to gain mastery over difficult and challenging situations. The research was designed on a sample of 50 hearing impaired students to study self-concept and achievement motivation. Self-Concept Questionnaire by Dr. Raj Kumar Saraswat and Achievement Motive Test by V.P. Bhargava were used as measuring instruments. Mean and correlation technique were employed to find out the correlation between two variables. It was found that majority of students had above average self-concept and achievement motivation.
