Description
The papers collected in this volume explore the state of light scattering by particles
as it developed in recent years. They represent a selection of the presentations held
during the Bremen Workshop on Light Scattering 2016, which the Institut für
Werkstofftechnik hosted and which was organized on the University of Bremen Campus
in Bremen in March 2016.
This workshop became a regular institution. This year there were again over 30 participants
from 12 different countries. Bringing together physics, engineers, and applied
mathematicians from all over the world working in various fields, during the workshop
various theoretical and practical aspects of light scattering by particles very discussed.
The papers collected in this volume demonstrate the wide interdisciplinary nature of the
interest in light scattering by particles and particle aggregates.
Various practical aspects were considered such as solar energy conversion, guiding
thin film system, hot nanostructures, colloidal lithography, fractal-like aggregate and
electro optical sensors.
The theoretical approaches used to simulate and investigate the mentioned practical
problems include the T-Matrix Method, the Discrete Sources Method, the Discrete
Dipole Approximation, the Discontinuous Galerkin Time Domain and the Hydrodynamic
Method.
