Textbook of Prematurity

This book is a practical text on the epidemiology, prevention/screening, management and long-term sequelae of the problem of infants being born prematurely. The incidence of prematurity in the US has remained virtually constant despite the tremendous amount of medical and technological advances made in the past 40 years. Premature births contribute significantly to the cases of mental retardation, visual and hearing impairment, cerebral palsy and infant death. Chapters in this text deal with the problems of how to define pre-term labour, the risks and benefits of modern intensive and sometimes invasive therapy, and identifying the obstetric patient at risk.
