Description
Uncover the life and legacy of paleontologist Mary Anning in this book perfect for readers who are curious about the first discoveries of ancient dinosaur fossils.
This beautifully illustrated, fact-filled book reveals the life and legacy of Mary Anning, a young girl who scoured the shoreline and cliffs near her home on Britain's Jurassic Coast for fossils to sell in her family's shop.
The fossils that Mary uncovered paved the way for modern paleontology, helping humans piece together a picture of how the dinosaurs lived and evolved. But the educated men who traveled from London to buy and study her fossils did not recognize her discoveries or include her insights as the new field of paleontology began to emerge.
Two hundred years after Mary's discoveries, we still talk about her amazing contribution to the scientific world and how she influenced our understanding of the history of the earth. Today, she is recognized as the world's first paleontologist.
