Born in Berlin in 1966, Jonas Winner lived in Rome and the United States before moving back to his hometown to study philosophy. Winner worked as a reporter and television editor, shooting documentaries and covering cultural affairs. His experiences informed his work on screenplays, and several of his detective stories and thrillers have aired throughout Europe. He released his debut novel in 2011, followed by the original seven-part Berlin Gothic series, which became one of Germany's first e-book bestsellers. Winner lives and writes in Berlin.
