Description
New Testament Interpretation: A Practical Guide introduces readers to critical perspectives and methods of biblical interpretation, with emphasis on the New Testament, in a manner that enables them to apply these perspectives and methods to their own work. The readings and essays included in this volume have been chosen to support an exegetical worksheet, which provides students with step-by-step guidance for interpreting New Testament passages.
In Unit One, students are provided with a set of practical resources to aid them in preparing to engage in the exegetical process, including an exegetical worksheet that guides students through the interpretive process, a sample of a completed worksheet, and a bibliographical guide. In Unit Two, essays focus on issues relating to the original text and historical context of the New Testament writings. Unit Three features selections on the methods scholars use to study the literary features of these writings. The text concludes with readings that introduce students to strategies they can employ to make the results of their research meaningful to people in contemporary faith communities.
New Testament Interpretation is an excellent supplemental resource for seminary students or those pursuing graduate-level divinity degrees.
