The Development of Writing 3-11

This title should help teachers and trainees to improve children's writing and increase their confidence in drawing on all the resources their language makes available to them. It is a collection of chapters written in an accessible way by practising classroom teachers and those who support or work alongside them. Key issues explored include: practical ways of planning and managing the teaching of writing; helping children to apply text, sentence and word level skills in creating their texts; fostering positive attitudes to writing in the foundation stage; the transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 - maintaining enthusiasm while building on skills; and inclusive whole school approaches - reviewing and improving the writing policy.
