Jennifer wants to tell her mother she's sorry for running away from home when she was a teenager, for staying away for ten years, and for all the things that happened between them. But now that she's ready to apologise, her mother has Alzheimer's and doesn't even remember what Jennifer has done - let alone who Jennifer is.
