Description
Through the lens of both historical records and fictional representation, Ford's Terror takes the reader on a journey to, from and through-out Southeast Alaska in 1889, just twenty-two years after Alaska was purchased from Russia. Among several adventures during their six-month journey, the crew of the coastal survey ship Carlise P. Patterson encounter hostile Tlingits, distrustful of white people on account of the Navy bombardment of Angoon just years before. The story is about Harry L. Ford, a Navy Master at Arms and United States Coast and Geodetic Survey Hydrographer. Ford's Terror describes the events that lead to Mr. Ford being in a narrow channel that would be later bear his name. Harry L. Ford is the hero in this epic drama. Towering mountains and unmatched wilderness provide the perfect setting.

Person
Richard Wiggins is a former resident of very rainy Juneau, Alaska, who now lives in extreme-ly dry Washoe Valley, Nevada, but still calls Alaska home from Panguingue Creek near De-nali National Park. After forty years of writing transportation planning documents, starting with local transit plans in small southeast Alaska towns, Mr. Wiggins has since discovered an unknown desire to tell stories about special people behind special places. Relying on his experiences living in Juneau for inspiration, Mr. Wiggins rarely enjoys the rainy weather he writes so longingly about.
