Description
Materials science courses in universities primarily grew out of earlier elementary metallurgy courses and are to this day usually dominated by metallurgical considerations. This book is different in its origins. It began as class notes in an undergraduate (junior level) curriculum in Mechanical Polymer Engineering at the University of Akron. Materials science is developed here but with polymers rather than metals in mind. This book however is a materials science oriented course in polymer engineering rather than a totally balanced materials science course. The students in this program would take a separate course in metallurgy.
