Description
This catalogue accompanies "Hidden Treasures" - a major exhibition of works of art from private collections within the immediate environment of Oxford. Most are works rarely, if ever, seen by the general public as they form parts of collections which are open to view on very infrequent occasions. The works range from 16th to 19th century paintings, watercolours and drawings, both European and British. Artists include Sir Thomas Lawrence, Turner and Sandby from the English Schools, together with Dutch masters such as Ruisdael and Teniers, with Delacroix, Cezanne, Degas and Chardin representing France. The exhibition includes some 70 or more works of art, all of them fully catalogued in this work.
