Leadership for Learning

This text examines the nature and purpose of leadership in education. It offers a model of leadership and explores vocabulary for educational leaders. Emphasis on school improvement and effectiveness means that operational mangement continues to be of great importance. But, at the same time, education managers are having to transform themselves into "leaders". The book explains what leadership is and what leaders do and covers various issues relating to education. Issues discussed include: existing research and models of leadership; perspectives on school improvement and raising achievement; challenges to existing models of leadership based on future thinking, research in other sectors, notably chaos theory, learning theory and industrial models of learning organizations.
