Michael Weinstein is an experienced pilot, origami enthusiast, and Ph.D. holder in molecular genetics from the University of California, San Diego. As an assistant professor at Ohio State University and a lifelong paper-folding expert, he authored On Folded Wings: Paper Airplanes for All Ages (Cypress House), a recognized collection of intricate paper aircraft designs. Michael is a native of Toledo, Ohio, and he has been passionate about origami since childhood and wrote his first paper airplane book in high school, He earned a Ph.D. and became a professor of molecular genetics at Ohio State University. He's also an experienced pilot who owns and flies a 1962 Mooney M20c. He specializes in creating complex, modular origami airplane designs, with On Folded Wings serving as a noted collection of his work. He is also a reptile enthusiast ("herper") who keeps Redfoot tortoises.
