Description
Landscape designer Nina Quinn is used to a little unpredictability when it comes to her employees. It's the price she pays for giving ex-cons a second chance. But when Kit Pipe, her ultra reliable right hand man, doesn't show up for work, a worried Nina sets out to track him down. Unfortunately, all she finds is the dead body of Daisy Bedinghaus, Kit's ex-girlfriend. It doesn't take long for the police to jump to the conclusion that Daisy was killed by Kit, especially since he's still missing and a trail of clues point to his guilt. Fiercely loyal, Nina takes it upon herself to jump into the homicide investigation to clear Kit's name. Investigating is difficult, however, thanks to Nina's ex-husband moving into her house to recuperate from a gunshot wound, her stepson's misbehaviour, and wild turkeys on the loose in her neighbourhood. Her biggest worry, however, is whether she can find Kit before the killer finds her.

Person
Heather Webber writes mysteries in between running her three children to and from various sporting and school events, actively avoiding housework, and wishing someone would give her backyard a Taken by Surprise makeover. This native of Massachusetts was uprooted and transplanted to a little cranny of southwest Ohio shortly after marrying her high school sweetheart.
