Benedict may have more compunction than some real-life hacks, but the rare combination of ethics and thrills in this series remains potent, climaxing here atop a cable car in the Alps. You either got it or you don't, and for my money, Watt absolutely has * The Times, Thrillers of the Month * I loved this smart, modern, brilliantly plotted journalistic thriller, which combines relentless action with wonderful writing. The End Of The Game brings vividly to life the adrenaline-fuelled highs and frightening lows of life as an undercover reporter. Watt's unstoppable heroine, and the shadowy worlds she navigates, are perfectly realised and terrifyingly plausible.
