This book aims to provide a comprehensive and integrated survey of pathogenesis and immunity in the disease pertussis (whooping cough). It covers the molecular biology through vaccine manufacture and testing, to clinical medicine and epidemiology. The book contains 21 chapters by 31 authors from 6 countries, all acknowledged authorities and active researchers in the pertussis field. The main emphasis is on recent developments in knowledge of pertussis disease and the properties of pertussis vaccine.
