Included are the "Mountains of the Moon", once thought the source of the Nile; Mount Elgon, whose mineral-salt caves form a subterranean salt-lick; Mount Kenya, attracting mountaineers from all over the world; the Aberdares, home to the notorious "Happy Valley" British aristocrats; and Kilimanjaro, symbol of Africa itself.
