Description
A laugh-out-loud rhyming romp about how being HANGRY can turn you into a little bit of a monster! Brought to life by debut author, Kathryn Wanless, and illustrations packed with humour and personality from Fred Blunt.
When Evangeline's alarm clock shrieks, the day is NOT off to a good start because. . . SHE'S HANGRY! But after breakfast, Evangeline is back to feeling right and skips happily down the street. Yet, at school, as lunchtime looms near. . . Yes, you guessed it. . . SHE'S HANGRY! The afternoons are always lots of fun. Except, as she leaves the playground and spots her waiting Mum, UH OH. . . SHE'S HANGRY, AGAIN!
When at last they make it home, things go from bad to worse. It turns out that it's not only Evangeline who is HANGRY! Can Evangeline and Mum work together to find the perfect snack before it's too late?
WARNING: There may be a HANGRY monster lurking inside of you too. . .
This fantastically funny and bouncy story gives voice to a very real experience. Being hungry brings out some big, and sometimes confusing, feelings in children (and grown-ups too), making it the ideal book to share and read together. The best addition to bookshelves that include: I Really Want the Cake, One Hungry Dragon and The Kitchen Disco.

Reviews / Votes
This brilliantly bouncy story - packed with Blunt's trademark bold, characterful and comical illustrations - explores a very real experience for both children AND grown-ups... -- Pam Norfolk * The Lancashire Evening Post * Kathryn Wanless's fun, bouncy rhyming text in this amusing (and relatable) picture book about getting cross when you're hungry is full of fun and great to read aloud. . . A humorous book about an important developmental life skill: food and starting to understand our bodies. * BookTrust * what is delightful about the book is when Evangeline begins to recognise that others can feel hangry too and she can help them overcome this particular feeling. The sheer vivacity of Blunt's illustrations help readers picture how things are, and the book is perfect for sharing at home or in the EYS setting. Come to think of it, adults reading the book with little ones will also profit from its messages! * The School Librarian * A cautionary tale of the monster lurking within all of us if we get too hungry! * Creative Steps * Jaunty. . . comical. . . this zany story will resonate with parents of many young children. -- Jill Bennett * Red Reading Hub *More details

Kathryn Wanless (Author)
Kathryn has a BA in Linguistics and an MA in Children's Book Illustration. She loves both words and pictures in equal measure. Kathryn spent several years travelling and teaching abroad in Europe and the US, and now resides near Stamford, Lincolnshire where she also invests much of her time acting in a local Shakespeare theatre company.
Fred Blunt (Illustrator)
Humour has always been top of Fred's list when it comes to drawing. Right from those early (rather unflattering) portraits of teachers, Fred knew he wanted to entertain with his work. Now writing and illustrating his own, very silly picture books and collaborating with authors like Kes Grey, Michelle Robinson and Peter Bently - Fred couldn't be happier. Fred also works in animation as a character designer, most recently on exciting projects with Warner Bros. and DreamWorks Studios.
