She has written many bestselling books on subjects ranging from intersectional feminism to multiracial identity, and has developed film and television projects with Warner Brothers, NBCUniversal, Amazon, HBO, and Paramount. She speaks regularly at institutions across the USA and internationally. She is also the daughter of Alice Walker, the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple.
Maria Diaz Perera was born in Gijon, Spain. From a young age, her favourite things were listening to The Beatles and drawing. When she was older, she studied art history and graphic design. Nowadays, she still listens to The Beatles and does what she loves the most for a living: illustration.
