Description
Sara saw things differently. Two weeks before her due date, Sara lost a healthy baby girl. Four weeks later, doctors discovered Stage IV colon cancer. A week after this terminal diagnosis, Sara set up a profile on Caring Bridge and began telling her story of the "most wonderful terrible thing" that had ever happened to her. Sara's transparency about the experience of the physical and emotional turmoil of her illness serves as a brilliant example of a woman firmly convinced that God holds victory over death. In The Light Shines Through, you can walk with Sara and learn from the amazing love and peace that defined her difficult but beautiful last year and a half of her life on earth. Through her humble perspective and unabashed passion, Sara offers compelling lessons on how to live in the present, teaching others to see God's presence and abundant love in every momenteven those that are deeply painful.

Person
Sara Walker had two great loves: writing and sharing Christ with others. She was happily married, raising two small boys, and working as a physical therapist when she was diagnosed with cancer in January 2011. Through her Caring Bridge blog, she encouraged others in their own physical and spiritual struggles, always pointing her readers to Christ. Sara reached over 700,000 visitors to her website with her passion for God before her earthly battle with cancer ended in August 2012. To carry on her work of encouragement, her friends and family established the Sara Walker Foundation.
