Description
This volume in the "Experimental Thermodynamics" series continues the theme of the two earlier volumes by considering non-reacting systems. However, in this volume, attention is concentrated upon the measurement of properties charcateristic of the relaxation of a fluid from a non-equilibrium state - the transport properties. The text was conceived by the Commission on Thermodynamics and Thermochemistry in 1987 and the editors were assigned the task of assembling an international team of experts to describe the current state of development of the techniques of measurement of the transport properties of fluids and their mixtures including viscosity, thermal conductivity, diffusion co-efficients, thermal diffusion factors and thermal transpiration co-efficients. The book contains a summary of a wide variety of experimental techniques applicable over a wide range of thermodynamic states.
