Leela Viswanathan has over twenty-five years' experience working as a researcher in academia, government, and the not-for-profit sectors. She is the founder and principal of Viswali Consulting, is a registered professional planner with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners, and an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen's University. She has been awarded numerous Tri-Agency awards, including as the principal investigator for the Planning with Indigenous Peoples Research Group. She is the winner of the American Association of Geographers Enhancing Diversity Award and a recipient of the Steve Cutway Accessibility Award, and has twice received the Julian Szeicz Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is the author of The Deliberate Doctorate: A Values-Focused Journey to Your PhD.
