Applications of Sparse Banded Filter Matrices in Image Processing

Sparsity plays an effective role to reduce the computational time and memory space for data storage. In 2014, Ivan Selesnick, Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Tandon School of Engineering, New York University, New York, proposed a sparse banded matrix filter (also known as AB filter). This book depicts the consolidated published works of applications of sparse banded matrix filter in image processing. Image denoising, hyperspectral image denosiing, edge detection and image retrieval using edge detection are the specific applications explained along with the methodology, experimental results and analysis in each section of the book. The contents of this book are targeted for the undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in the area of image processing.
