The present book is on 'Indian Poverty'. Indian poverty is globally known. The problem of poverty is becoming more serious in a developing nation like India. The review of literature in this book consist of the past work done in 'Poverty' its applications and the need to use the terms in the book. The book also consist of the profile of Maharashtra state and the Thane district. There has been various poverty alleviation programmes initiated in India which has been elaborated. The research methodology included the primary and secondary data collection with its analysis by using appropriate statistical tools, especially Chi-square method. The book has also included the suggestions to overcome poverty in Maharashtra state, i.e. in India.
