Hope Vestergaard is a writer, educator, and curriculum specialist with several children’s books to her name, including Digger, Dozer, Dumper, the companion volume to Hammers, Drills, and Wrenches. When she was eight or nine, she wrote in her journal, “When I read a good book, I feel like I’m hiding inside it, watching the story happen around me.” She says this is still true today: “When I read a great book, I fall right in, and I’m oblivious to everything else.” She hopes her books make young readers feel the same way. Hope Vestergaard was born in New Orleans, went to college in the Northeast, and currently lives in Michigan.
David Slonim is a fine artist and a writer and illustrator for children.
