Description
The must-read collection showcasing the very best nature-based science fiction and fantasy published around the world the previous year.
Nature-based speculative fiction has long been a part of human culture, but ECO: The Year's Best Ecofiction is the first ever annual anthology to collect the finest short stories published in the genre each year.
Together, the stories in this collection explore not only our fears, grief, and struggles in a time of crisis but also humanity's endless curiosity, ingenuity, and love for nature. From magical realism, cli-fi and solarpunk to horror and New Weird, ECO: The Year's Best Ecofiction forms a snapshot of how some of the most brilliant and imaginative authors working today are telling our story in this extraordinary time of Earth's natural history. Most of all, it explores our deep bonds and relationships with other species, all through the lens of the fantastic.
ECO24 includes evocative and compelling short fiction by both established names in the field and rising stars, carefully selected from more than 110 diverse publications by award-winning editor and anthologist Marissa van Uden.
For fans of Jeff Vandermeer's Southern Reach series, Richard Powers' The Overstory, N.K. Jemisin's The Broken Earth Trilogy, Frank Herbert's Dune, and Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower. And for fans of Earth.
