Description
This book examines public management from an applied perspective. Specifically, it is designed to be both a resource book for practicing public managers who wish to improve management effectiveness and a textbook for upper-undergraduate / graduate level classes in public management.
The contents are presented in four main sections. Section One - "The Foundation" - consists of three chapters which lead to the development of a "core trait" decision making framework that is interwoven with subsequent chapters. Section Two - "Managerial Tool Kit" - comprises six chapters that focus on structural elements for supporting superior performance in public organizations. Section Three - "Family Matters" - include three chapters that focus on recruitment, training and team building activities. Section Four - "Complexity and Change" - entails three chapters that examine the topics of conflict management, progressive improvement and leading change.
