Reviews / Votes
A proper page-turning thriller ... It starts off like a children's book. Daisy lives a sheltered life with her backstoried mum, and likes to talk to topiary. Quickly, though, the fanciful plot develops a sub-zero chill. Daisy's mum disappears. A stranger appears. Your blood runs cold when he works out that no one knows of Daisy's existence. There ensues an almighty battle of wits; it won't spoil the ending to note that the climax is violent, but satisfying. * The Observer * A beguiling flavour of Katherine Rundell's Rooftoppers, being as much about the inner journey as the outer. * Amanda Craig * Absorbing and compelling * The Bookbag * An exciting new adventure for younger readers * Sunday Express * It's fascinating, original and a very satisfying book for confident readers * South Wales Echo * This enthralling story of a young girl's physical and mental journey is wonderfully imagined by Tania Unsworth, with echoes of the writing of Eva Ibbotson and Joan Aiken, readers will be completely transported by the unique magic of Daisy's world. * Surrey Advertiser * This unique tale of a girl facing the danger of a strange man, isolated from everyone, with only her wits and her imagined conversations to help her, this is definitely a story that's worth reading * The Whispering of the Pages * An almighty battle of wits; it won't spoil the ending to note that the climax is violent but satisfying * Equities.com * This is an interesting book which I would recommend to others -- Daniel Dineen, Meelin National School * Evening Echo (Cork) * This is a page-turning, thrilling story -- Roisin Nolan Collins, aged 12 * Evening Echo (Cork) *More details
