Description
This is a practical, dip-in training resource for trainers who want to enliven sessions and courses covering a range of topics by using a participative role play activity. Part 1 provides a trainer with all the background information on how and when to use and run role play activities. Among the topics considered are: the advantages of using role plays; who should use role play and what experience is necessary; how to make role plays successful; how to handle the review, feedback and debriefing stages; how to select and brief participants. Part 2 comprises full details for 50 different role plays most of which would require a time allowance of between one-and-a-half to three hours. Each role play is presented in a standard format which includes: procedures for running and debriefing the activity; timing and number of participants required; learning points the activity will draw out; photocopiable briefs and role scenarios for each participant. The role plays are grouped into clusters to reflect the skills each role play promotes.
