Martin J. Turner, PhD is a Reader in Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the BPS, and a Fellow of the Association for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). He is most known for his work applying REBT within performance settings. He holds an Advanced Practicum Certificates in REBT from the Albert Ellis Institute, who also awarded him the Albert Ellis award for research in 2018 and 2020. Martin has also received an Outstanding Achievement Award for Research from the U.K. Association for REBT. Between 1994-2024 Martin is the most published and most cited REBT researcher in the world. He is a frequent keynote/invited speaker at academic conferences and industry events, delivering CPD workshops to fellow professionals and trainees, and delivering consultancy across private and public sectors. He joined Lincoln City Football Club as first team psychologist in 2025.
